I’m finally getting into a new set of work, one where nicely worked content is arriving on my steps, ready for distribution. Before, I was the whole process bundled in one monster, and I like this change.
Some other things in the pipeline:
I’m applying to undergraduate research projects (called UROP here at UM), and its somewhat difficult for me to escape from my bubble — that is, find projects that don’t have to do with web implementation. I was dealing with this as a chance to explore, but I’m also realizing it may have some pure income potential, too.
On a UROP-related note, I’m trying to get the real story behind why the project book is not available in a useful format on the web. The contact book has descriptions for more than 600 participating projects. An abridged version without contact names or emails is available on the poorly-maintained UROP site (links from the spring are still on the front page). They claim it’s for security; more like security theatre or a lack of technical understanding, I think.
I’m also thinking about starting a group blog on design, development, and departmental feudalism issues at Michigan.
Today’s factoid: the largest tree on campus is in East Quad’s courtyard, say a group of Architecture students taking photos
